Q: Do you design websites?

A: Yes, but we’re also happy to work with a designer of your choice. In fact we’d love that.

We’re designers, but what we mostly are is facilitators. We do all the stuff that needs to get done to get a site online, and hopefully get some peoples’ attention.

So we’re designers, developers, search engine optimizers, hosting maintainers. We could probably do social media campaigns on top of all that, but we kinda don’t want to. (We’ll think about it, though. Send us your TikTok!) We hope there’s value in all the things we do, even though some of the things might not be very visible to people outside of the business.

Q: Do you do Wordpress?

A: We can, but have you considered something else?
For many sites, Wordpress is too much. It’s problem-prone and costly to maintain.
Lots of sites are better served by using a static site generator (like Eleventy, our preferred SSG). This site was built with Eleventy, for example. It’s very good technology.

If you’re building a site with multiple daily blog entries, Wordpress might be right for you. For most other sites, save yourself the headache.

Q: You keep saying “we” and “us”…how many people work at Happening Interactive anyway?

A: Haha, O.K.; you got me. Right now, Happening Interactive is just me. (I’m Dave.)
I’m an artist and musician in my spare time.
But I also have close to twenty years of experience making and maintaining websites.
I hope that counts for something.

But I say “we” and “us” because if I ever hire any help, I won’t have to update the website.

Q: Are you hiring?

A: Not today. But we (or I) will gladly keep your resumé on file.
